Goals The course will improve intellectual skills such as reading texts about their profession, guessing meanings of new words in texts by using “skimming” and “scanning” techniques, reading for gist and reading for specific information. This course will prepare ground for improving students’ vocabulary knowledge , coping with complex language structures in advanced translation studies which they will make in YDL286 course and making presentations.
Contents This course includes reading skills and word and term knowledge mostly.

1 Students will be able to interpret texts about their profession.
2 Students will be able use basic terms in relation to their disciplines' terminology.
3 Students will acquire the ability to read and understand texts concerning the basic professional working life.

5 Students will be able to understand recent papers on subjects such as political science and public administration, management, economy, occupational health, workplace safety, human rights, collective bargaining regarding their occupational areas.
